Sat Feb 9 13:40:59 EST 2002 - We're Going!
We're going! After purchasing our WM tickets in November, Sean and I then heard that RAW and Smackdown will be in Montreal and Ottawa. So we couldn't resist going to these events too and in turning this into a roadtrip. Ticketwise, we have floors for each event. You can bet that we'll have the windows down and some loud music driving back from Montreal towards Ottawa during the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Our theme song for this is "Behind the Wheel / Route 66" by Depeche Mode. Perhaps it should changed to "Route 401". Considering that Toronto's where Sean and I are from, Ottawa's my home now, and Montreal -- the place where Bret got screwed, are the three cities, this is going to be a helluva trip.
Tue Mar 19 12:37:35 EST 2002 - Midway report
We're in Ottawa, having seen WM18 and RAW, and preparing for tonight's Smackdown! Well, we thought WM18 was okay, but boy did the people ever cheer Hulk. RAW last night was nuts, and the crowd was really up for it. The worst part of it all is that we got stuck in a snowstorm on the way to Montreal, and were stuck for the night, and had to leave for Ottawa this morning, hoping the snow would clear up. Needless to say our budget for this trip just got shot. Our theme song 'Route 66' quickly turned into local weather reports, and me cleaning the windshield with an Oskar scraper while Sean drove. The weather was so bad that two wrestlers got into an accident on the 401 from TO to Montreal (story here). More later...
Sat Mar 23 14:22:43 EST 2002 - Post Mortem
Well, after 3 cities, nearly 13 hours of wrestling, and seemingly endless snowstorms, the tri-city roadtrip 2002 is over. I'm beat, and so is Sean. RAW and Smackdown! are coming again to Toronto and Montreal in May, but I think it's safe to say that we'll pass on those. All in all, the Montreal RAW was the best event of the three, and probably the best show I've seen ever. The fans there were just unbelievable. The 'bye-bye' chants were unreal at RAW, something you would never see anywhere else. Smackdown! had the return of X-Pac, big deal.
