The Referer report tells you how people are finding your site. A referer is any page that has a link to content on your site. Whenever someone follows that link, the address of that page is logged on the server. This also applies to pages on this site as well, but we are intentionally ignoring those referrals, if we can (depends upon your log format).

You will find an additional number on the Summary page that can tell you how many people have visited the site using either bookmarks or by typing the URL directly into their browser.
