Creating vector coverages

The objectives of this exercise is to create vector data, and understand the differences between vector coverages (Arc Environment) and graphic entities (AutoCAD).   I did not have access to ARC / INFO at this time, so all vector creation and editing was done with ArcCAD and AutoCAD.  The raw data was compiled from a paper map of Area 21 as documented in the City of Ottawa Draft Zoning By-Law.

Steps

  1. Draping a raster reference image in an AutoCAD environment.  Digitizing specified areas.
  2. Creating, building and cleaning coverages in ArcCAD.
  3. Creating intersect and buffer zones.
  4. Creating buffer and intersect zones in ArcView as comparison.
[Coverage created from scratch]

...resulting in a coverage created from scratch.  This exercise tried to simulate the ARC/INFO experience as much as possible.
